Grab Bag Reload

I just created a bunch of new grab bags add added them to the site so if you have been hankering for a Bracelet grab bag (we have been out for a while) or just more of any of the others since I have been super low for a while now is the time to get your hands on them.

I know several of my wonderful customers get these each year for holiday gifts, because it is a really good deal and just to much fun.  That is why I added more now just in time for the holiday season.  However I should let you know that this year is going to be particularly crazy for the holidays so I might not have time to add more  between now and the end of the year.  So get them while you can.

Happy Mad Hatter Day: October 6th

Happy Mad Hatter Day

I get A real kick out of nontraditional holidays, particularly ones that just happen to fall on my blog post days.  I get to share with you a little bit of whimsy and I don't have to think to hard in regards with what to blog about.  It's a win-win in my books. Today I am going to share with you this most amusing holiday inspired by Alice in Wonderlands Mad Hatter.

"Date When Celebrated : Always October 6th

The Mad Hatter is a fictional cartoon character depicted in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The Mad Hatter is always acting silly. So, on Mad Hatter Day, it is only fair and fitting to act a little silly yourself.

Despite being a silly day, the selection of the date was actually quite logical. The Mad Hatter wears a top hat. On the front of the hat is a slip of paper with "10/6" written on it. The paper is believed to be an order to make the hat, and that it costs ten shillings sixpence.

Did You Know? In the 8th Century, mercury was used in hat making in a process called "carroting". Mercury poisoning drove some hatters crazy (mad).

 Origin of Mad Hatter Day:

Mad Hatter Day was the brainstorm of a group of computer people in Boulder, Co. It dates back to 1986.  Most likely a bit bored with bits and bytes, they got a little silly and created this quite special day."   This information was found on the website Holiday Incites.  For information on all sorts of fun holidays you should check them out.

New Product This Week, 9/29/16: Host Club

Kiss Kiss Fall In Love.

This bracelet is inspired by one of my all time favorite anime's "Ouran High School Host Club", it has Instant Coffee "Wow I've heard of this it's Commoners Coffee", Tea, A pink bunny for "Usa-Chan", a brown Bear for "Teddy", and of course Music Room 3 where much to Haruhi's distress is where she found the Host Club not a place to study.  The colors of the beads are representative of the school uniform, both male and female.

This bracelet has been on my to add to website list for over a year now, but well you know stuff happens.

One of the things that makes me so happy about this bracelet is that Vic Mignogna; the voice of Tamaki, has sighed the Teddy charm for our customers.  Witch kind of makes me fan-girl.

I am really into anime, but lots of people who have never seen anime before think this one is just to stinking cute.  And they are right.  So if you have not seen it before I highly recommend watching it.  If you are a fan-girl like me then you are most likely be doing a happy dance in your seat wanting to get this bracelet, and that is good cause I want your money.

Happy Shopping.

Going Green: A Walk to the Post Office

Walking To The Post Office

As I'm sure many of you know I live in the Southeast and we where suffering form a severe gas shortage last week.  Because I don't have any shows till the end of the month that was not as big a problem for me as it was for many others.  However I decided to do my part and not use gas that I don't need to and have been walking to the post office instead of driving. Believing it would be troublesome it was not something ventured before, but once I did it the first time I discovered that there are sidewalks most of the way and the distance is actually shorter than my normal daily walk.  Only 3.5 miles as apposed to 4.25 miles so all in all a fairly easy walk.

Reidsville has a fairly spastic approach to sidewalks so the fact that they where available for most of the walk came as a large surprise, but a most welcome one.  The route takes me past churches, Dr. offices, the YMCA, Garages, Banks, and lots and lots of houses.  Keeping with the spastic nature of my town the houses range in shape style and upkeep.  Below are a few of my favorites either because of how well they are kept up or it's run down nature is interesting to look at.

All but one of these houses can be found on the same street.  You can find these gems right next to a 50's style row house, a burned out lot or a run down home.

Because I have been so happy with the ease of this walk I will continue on walking your orders to the post office, provided the weather is not horrid.  This will be good for my waist line and good for the environment.  I just wish most places in this town where as easy to walk to.

Now enjoy your shopping with the happy knowledge that your order will be at least in part sent to you in an environmentally conscious way.

Happy International Talk Like A Pirate Day

Happy International Talk Like A Pirate Day Matey!

According to Wikipedia "International Talk Like a Pirate Day (ITLAPD, September 19) is a patriot holiday created in 1995 by John Baur (Ol' Chumbucket) and Mark Summers (Cap'n Slappy), of Albany, Oregon U.S., who proclaimed September 19 each year as the day when everyone in the world should talk like a pirate.  For example, an observer of this holiday would greet friends not with "Hello," but with "Ahoy, matey!" The holiday, and its observance, springs from a romanticized view of the Golden Age of Piracy"

Tig and I really get into this holiday and have lots of fun doing as many silly pirate things has we can come up with.  Including, but not limited to dressing up and using atrocious slang.

Here are some Items you might like that are more or less related to pirates.

If you need to brush up on your Pirate slang five of my favorites are listed below.

Black jack = Large drinking cups

Avast ye = Pay attention

Cackle fruit = Chicken eggs

Seadog = An old sailor or pirate

Son of a biscuit eater = An insult

New Product This Week 9/15/16: Unicorn Love

Unicorn Love!

Get your Unicorn Love on with these fun unicorn themed Hair stakes.  I just got these fun purple stakes in and I thought to myself what should I put on them cause you know they where just to cute for words, and of course when I see purple and butterflys I naturally think Unicorns.  Once they where done I showed them to Tig and she was most vexed that she could not get a pair since they where going up on the sight for the shopping pleasure of my most wonderful customers.

I  hope you do love these as much as we do because I am quite sure that once Tig gets back from her shows up in Maryland there is going to be puppy dog eyes and frowny faces.  Just saying cause I have a tendency to cave once the sad eyes come out.  What that translates to is that I can make one more than what is currently on the website, so if it goes to Tig then there will only ever be 2 available to buy.

One of the many cool things about these hair stakes is the shaft has a slight texture to it so it stays in the hair better.  I know that there are quite a few people out there that prefer the textured sticks to the glossy enameled ones.  Though since my hair is short(ish);just past my shoulders, thin, and fine I prefer the glossy sticks, but that is why I have lots of options because we are all just a little different in our needs.   Also since they are in the Fancy Pants style the bobble hangs down a bit so it's really fun to make them swing about and they catch the eye nicely.  As always they are over engendered so they don't get caught in your hair.

Hope these bring a smile to your day

Sherlock is a Wizard!

Product Redesign!

As I'm sure you could tell I have been working like crazy getting new product and redesigned product up on the website for the holiday season.  This week there are 2 new redesigns for your shopping pleasure.  Sherlock Holmes and Wizard of Oz inspired Funky Bracelets.

The Sherlock Bracelet has a lot of changes to it.  All the beads are different and 3 out of the 5 charms are new too, though the general feel is the same.  I am super happy with the way it turned out.

Did you know that Sherlock was based on a real person?  The real  Sherlock Holmes was named Eugene Vidocq he was French, a Criminal, Author, First Private Investigator, and Invented Crime labs, Ballistics and the first Criminal Database.    Check out this fun YouTube Video for more information.

The Wizard of Oz bracelet is more or less the same as the previous one on the website (cause I was quite happy with it). I just had to use some new/different beads.

Hope you like them.
